Be inspired by the website the people in these 2 TED talks who have already started growing their own food in the neighborhood and see the positive effects that this entails.
Then start growing fresh, healthy and local food where you live. It doesn't matter how big or small the project is. For example, plant some sprouts in the windowsill behind the window, start an easy vegetable garden (also possible on your balcony or roof) or start a food forest with 7 different layers of edible plants to improve the neighborhood.
