John Taylor Gatto

Met een waardering van 9.3 uit 10 op IMDB is dit een buitengewoon interessante serie waarin John Taylor Gatto ingaat op het hoe en waarom van ons huidige onderwijssysteem. Gatto is een man die 30 jaar zelf in het onderwijs actief is geweest en daarbij een prachtspreker is. Deze bijna 6 uur materiaal van hem zal eenieders denken op ons huidige verplichte onderwijssysteem voorgoed veranderen. Wellicht is het handig als mensen dit ook even doorsturen naar docenten in hun omgeving en naar het ministerie van onderwijs in Nederland.

Overigens geeft hij zelf aan hoe hij tot beste docent van het jaar in New York werd uitgeroepen. Hij geeft aan dat je kinderen hun inherente interesses serieus moet nemen en ze daarin moet ondersteunen en ze in staat moet stellen vooruitgang te maken op dat gebied. Moeilijker is het niet volgens Gatto en hij heeft hier buitengewoon grote successen mee geboekt.

Voor eenieder die zelf naar school is gegaan en of kinderen heeft die naar school gaan is dit een must see. En ik denk dat dit verhaal aanleiding geeft om in Nederland ook het gehele onderwijssysteem volledig op de schop te gooien. Kortom een echte aanrader.

Ik moet zeggen dat ik na zelf het hele schoolsysteem te hebben doorwandelt en nu dit en ook eerdere verhalen hierover hoor, ik me redelijk geestelijk mishandelt voel door de Nederlandse overheid en ons verplichte onderwijs systeem.

Ik ben benieuwd hoe andere mensen hier tegenaan kijken en in welke hoeken er oplossingen gezocht kunnen worden. In hoeverre willen we onze kinderen en kleinkinderen nog blootstellen aan dit systeem met deze kennis van Gatto in het achterhoofd?
