TEDx professor in psychiatrie en neurowetenschap over paddo’s

Een interessante TEDx Talk van een professor in psychiatrie en neurowetenschappen over de psychoactieve stof in paddo’s. Ze hebben een wetenschappelijke studie gedaan wat deze stoffen met mensen doen in een goed gecontroleerde wetenschappelijke setting. Er kwamen ook voor deze professor bijzonder interessante resultaten uit hun onderzoek.

Roland Griffiths, Ph.D., is Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurosciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His principal research focus in both clinical and preclinical laboratories has been on the behavioral and subjective effects of mood-altering drugs. He is also currently a member of the Expert Advisory Panel on Drug Dependence for the World Health Organization.

Een interessante TEDx Talk van Graham Hancock over Ayahuasca en de verschillende effecten die het heeft. Ook vertelt hij zijn eigen persoonlijke verhaal met Ayahuasca.

Een aantal dagen geleden probeerde ik hier internetporno te bestempelen als belangrijkste oorzaak van toekomstige wereldvrede onder het motto van make love not war. Hoewel ik dat nog steeds niet geheel durf uit te sluiten lijken er echter toch ook wel wat mogelijke schaduwkanten te zitten aan de opkomst van het internet en de overvloed van pornografisch materiaal wat daarmee voor velen beschikbaar is geworden.

In onderstaande TEDx Talk verteld Gary Wilson over wat de aantrekkelijkheid is van internetporno vanuit evolutionair perspectief, maar ook over wat deze overvloed van pornografisch materiaal met de hersenen van iemand kan doen en wat voor nadelige gevolgen dit eventueel kan hebben.

Gary Wilson asks whether our brains evolved to handle the hyperstimulation of today’s Internet enticements. He also discusses the disturbing symptoms showing up in some heavy Internet users, the surprising reversal of those symptoms, and the science behind these 21st century phenomena.
